In March 2013, community stakeholders were invited to a consultation session to provide their feedback on the draft Food Policy Council framework.

The Food Policy Council framework: An Initial Framework for KFL&A Food Policy Council was finalized using the feedback from community stakeholder participants who attended the consultation session in March 2013.

In May 2013, the working group opened the application process for recruting 6-8 members to join the Food Policy Council. Applications were reviewed and high ranking applicants were interviewed.
